The problem

The evidence is split. The stripped surface does not wait.

Brownfield reconstruction rarely fails for want of a single mark. Paint, a hydro-vac photograph, a few levels, a pile docket and a finished surface that no longer shows what was underneath — issued by different people, on different days. Shallow services sit in the mill. Quantities have to be defended. The formation is only visible for a short construction window.

Sequence

Six stages. One record.

Not every job buys the full sequence. The front end stands alone. Stripped-surface and as-built stages are the continuation of a report the contractor already has.

Before you cut

Existing surface model plus shallow utility investigation — multiarray GPR and electromagnetic locating — and a conflict plan against the planned mill or excavation depth.

Targeted verification

Pothole locations selected for decision value. A suitable NDD contractor exposes the service. Aus-OMI records the exposure and classifies it in the same model.

Construction-ready mark-out

Verified points, interpreted lines, records-only information and unresolved anomalies kept distinct on the ground and on the plan — before the machine starts.

After removal, before covering

Stripped-surface capture once the pavement is clean. Cut-depth heat map, solid geometric removal volume, cross-sections, under-removal and over-excavation.

As layers go down

Optional hold-point capture of formation, subbase, basecourse or intermediate asphalt — a record before each layer is concealed.

At handover

Finished surface, grades and crossfall, tie-in levels, design-to-as-built deviation, and an updated utility model beneath the completed pavement.

Do you map pavement and hardstand construction in Adelaide?
Yes. Aus-OMI is based in Adelaide and maps pavement reconstruction and industrial hardstands across South Australia — existing surface, shallow utilities, verified exposures, removal volume and the finished record, in one spatial environment. We work Australia-wide.
How does hydro-vac / NDD sit with this work?
Physical exposure is carried out by a suitable NDD contractor. Aus-OMI selects or confirms the locations, records the exposed utility and issues the classified register. The truck, spoil, backfill and reinstatement stay with that contractor’s scope.
Is the removal volume a payment quantity?
Solid geometric volume is calculated from compared surfaces after cleanup. It is informational construction evidence unless a payment method is agreed in writing. Loose stockpile volume is reported separately. Tonnage is issued only where an agreed density or weighbridge record exists.
Can you attend night works and short hold-point windows?
Yes. Hold-point attendance is booked against the programme. Capture is done in the window; an immediate field summary can be issued where required, with the full processed report following. Short-notice, night or weekend attendance is arranged as an additional mobilisation.
Does a pothole verify the whole alignment?
Quality Level A, where assigned under AS 5488.1:2022 and AS 5488.2:2022, applies at the physically exposed and recorded point. It does not automatically apply to the remainder of an interpreted line.
Who releases the Principal’s hold point?
Aus-OMI supplies the spatial evidence. The Principal or Superintendent releases the hold point.
