Communications, electrical, water, sewer, gas, drainage and irrigation. Conductive services are traced with electromagnetic locating. Non-conductive and abandoned services are imaged with multiarray GPR. Unknowns are written down as unknowns.

Every mark is georeferenced into the same model as the radar and the site capture. A position that is not in the model is not a position the next drawing can use.

Existing plans are useful. They are not an image of what is actually underground. Private services, undocumented alterations, abandoned infrastructure, non-conductive pipework and unknown features can all sit outside the available records.

Aus-OMI investigates the ground itself — electromagnetic locating for conductive services, multiarray GPR for the surrounding subsurface — then writes down what was detected and what remains uncertain.

EMI hears what conducts. GPR images structure. The two disagree in useful ways — that disagreement is where strikes live. We cross-check, then assign AS 5488 quality level feature by feature. Geophysical detection is not exposed verification. Confidence and positioning accuracy are reported separately.
